“Creatures of the Chesapeake,” a documentary partially filmed in Gloucester at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, will air at 8 p.m. Tuesday on Maryland Public Television.

Described as “the cornerstone of this year’s Chesapeake Bay Week,” the half-hour special uses macrophotography to provide a rare, up-close look at some of the bay’s most iconic and unusual species as they move, breathe, eat and reproduce, said a press release.

Viewers will see a lined seahorse stalk its prey, marvel at the simple elegance of the moon jellyfish as it glides through the water, listen for the distinctive foghorn sound of the oyster toadfish, and more, said the release.
