Wamego sweeps Panthers

Limited to two runs, the Concordia High School softball team opened North Central Kansas League play with a pair of losses to Wamego at the Concordia Sports Complex on Tuesday.
Wamego won the first game of the doubleheader 9-2 and then shut out the Panthers 10-0 in five innings in the second game.
Concordia, now 1-6 on the season, fell behind 2-0 in the first inning in game one.
Wamego picked up one run in the third inning and three in the top of the fourth to extend the lead to 6-0.
Concordia made it 6-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Hanna Acree led off the inning with a single and scored the first run in the inning.
Erinae Flesher singled to drive in a run and came around to score.
A two-run home run by Delaney Campbell in the top of the fifth inning gave Wamego an 8-2 advantage.
The Red Raiders got a solo home run by Ashton Pierson in the top of the seventh inning.
Acree pitched all five innings in taking the loss for Concordia. She gave up nine runs on 11 hits and struck out nine.
Haley Asbury got the win for Wamego. She allowed two runs on four hits and struck out 12.
Wamego got out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the second game.
The Red Raiders pushed the lead to 5-0 with three runs in the second inning.
Three Wamego runs in the fourth inning made it an 8-0 game.
Wamego tacked on two runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Maya Gallagher shut out Concordia on two hits in five innings. She struck out 12.
Flesher gave up 10 runs on 10 hits in suffering the loss.
