A man that was reportedly shot while fishing on the Intracoastal Waterway in Little River in 2020 has filed a lawsuit.

According to a report, on or about May 15 around 10:45 p.m., the man was in his boat fishing in Little River when the suspect, Roy Stephen Parker, that appeared to be drunk or intoxicated exited his home with a gun and proceeded to threaten him for "trespassing on his fishing spot."

Shortly after, Parker shot the man with his gun, causing personal injuries and damages, reports say.

Parker then fled and hid in his home failing to help the man until he was later arrested for the felony of Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature, according to the report.

The lawsuit claims Parker was not legally justified in shooting the man and he did not unlawfully provoke or otherwise wrongfully cause the shooting to occur.

The victim is asking for actual and punitive damages.
