ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Thanks to a sufficient supply of COVID-19 vaccine, the Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts will allow any member of the general public to receive the Moderna vaccine at the Berglund Center on Thursday.
According to health officials, registration will not be necessary for this clinic, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 15.
Even though all previously scheduled clinic appointments will still be honored at their scheduled time, walk-in doses will reportedly be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The health districts say anyone who is at least 18-years-old is eligible to receive the Moderna vaccine.
“To date, more than 170,000 first and second doses of vaccine have been administered in the Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts,” said Dr. Cynthia Morrow, the health director of the Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts. “Vaccine supplies into our district have increased significantly which allows the opportunity for people to get their vaccinations at our clinic without an appointment on Thursday.”
In addition, in partnership with Carilion Clinic, health officials say they will offer a clinic on Saturday, April 17 to help residents find convenient times to get a vaccine. However, this will not be a walk-up clinic, so you will need to follow this link to schedule an appointment.
“I want to make sure that all of our residents have access to the vaccine. The sooner we can all be vaccinated, the sooner we can get back to visiting our families, attending concerts, and sporting events and just back to life.”

According to the health districts, the Pfizer vaccine will be offered at this clinic, which anyone age 16 or older is eligible to receive, but minors ages 16-17 are required to come with a parent.
