For the first time in over two months, no WVPE listener counties are in the “blue” on the state’s color-coded COVID-19 tracking map.
The blue category indicates the lowest spread of the coronavirus, and at least one listener county has been in the “blue” every week since February 10.
This week, though, most of the WVPE listening area is in the “yellow” category, which indicates moderate spread of the virus. Most counties maintained that yellow status from last week, but two saw conditions worsen – LaGrange and Pulaski counties both moved from the blue to the yellow this week.
LaPorte County also saw conditions worsen – it moved from the yellow to the orange category, which indicates high spread of the virus.
LaPorte County is currently the only orange county statewide, but less than half of Indiana’s 92 counties are currently in the least serious blue category. That’s compared to a month ago, when over 70 percent of Hoosier counties were in the blue.
