Carson City investigators seek burglary suspect who fled on bike, also suspected of stealing SUV
On April 8, Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Lakeview Hill for a report of Washoe County Sheriff's Office attempting to stop a red BMW SUV that was reported stolen from Sparks Police Department on April 7.
The BMW entered Carson City and exited I-580 onto North Carson Street. CCSO deputies located the stolen BMW in the driveway of an Emerson Drive residence.
The homeowner saw a white male with a bald head running away from the BMW carrying a backpack. Deputies arrived in the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
Later that evening, a resident who lived a block away from where the BMW was found returned home to discover their home had been burglarized, where cash, jewelry and electronics were stolen, as well as a mountain bike, in which the suspect used to pedal off with the stolen property, said CCSO Detective Sam Hatley.
Surveillance video shows the burglary suspect pedaling with the stolen property in pillow cases. The suspect later ditched the stolen property behind a wall on Roop and Hot Springs. The stolen property was recovered, said Hatley.
Detectives say the the burglary suspect matches the description of the suspect who fled from the stolen BMW.
