A person was shot at 11:39 p.m. on April 13, 2021 near Warwick and Atkinson boulevards in Newport News. 
One teenage boy was fatally shot late Tuesday night in Newport News, police said in a news release.
It happened at 11:39 p.m. near Warwick and Atkinson boulevards, police said. An officer in the area heard gunshots nearby.
Police responded to Warwick Boulevard and Manor Road.
Department spokeswoman Sarah Ketchum said they found a teenage boy in a parking lot with gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.
Traffic on Warwick Boulevard is being diverted in both directions down Beechmont Road onto Lucas Creek, and back onto Warwick Boulevard, police said.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting and ask anyone with information call the anonymous Crime Line at 1–888-LOCK-U-UP.
