MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police say a Memphis man was caught on camera stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from a warehouse in Southeast Memphis over a two-month period.

Investigators said Anthony Shearer, 28, somehow got into the TJX Fulfillment Center on East Holmes Rd. on April 9, 10, 11, and multiple times in March and took jewelry valued at $22,466.

Detectives said Shearer was also identified by employees at the warehouse but have not said if Shearer also worked there. We contacted TJX to find out but have not heard back from the company.

Wednesday, employees at a gas station right next to the warehouse were surprised to hear someone was able to get inside the business so many times and commit the crimes.

“That is ridiculous. That is shocking for it to be next door to where you work,” said the woman who did not want to be identified.

Shearer was charged with theft of property over $10,000. Police said they also found marijuana inside Shearer’s car.

Court records show earlier this month, Shearer was accused of running a marijuana-growing operation at his apartment in the airport area.

Investigators said they found marijuana plants and equipment used to cultivate marijuana. Officers said they also confiscated pills, an assault rifle, and a handgun.

Shearer was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture or sell.

He was released on bond after both arrests. Shearer’s next court date on the drug and weapons charges is April 20.
