Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the person or people who shot a man several times in the North End of Hartford Tuesday night.

Gunfire in the area of 2393 Main St., near Nelson Street, triggered a ShotSpotter alert about 9:30 p.m., police said. When they arrived, there was no victim, but they soon learned a man in his 30s with several gunshot wounds had shown up at a nearby hospital.

He was listed in stable condition and is expected to survive, police said.

Police said they don’t know what led up to the shooting, which is being investigated by the Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions.

Anyone with information that may help the detectives is asked to call the department’s anonymous tip line at 860-722-8477 (TIPS).
