MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman was rushed to the hospital in critical condition overnight following a shooting in Raleigh.

According to preliminary reports, the shooting was the result of a domestic incident in the 3700 block of Windermere early Wednesday morning. Authorities said they believe the woman was shot by her adult son, who has since been detained.

According to an affidavit, Darren Henderson, 32, was lying in bed around 2 a.m. when he got angry about only having one good eye. He went to his mother’s room and shot her in the stomach, police said. He was also smoking marijuana, according to the affidavit.

The woman, 51, called 911. Police found her son about a block away with a loaded gun in his shirt pocket.

The woman was taken to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Darren Henderson did not show any previous charges in Shelby County.

Neighbors said the pair moved in to the Raleigh home about a month ago.

One other male resident of the home is listed in the incident report as a witness.
