Milwaukee man arrested after police chase, Walmart robbery in Fond du Lac
FOND DU LAC – Police arrested a 60-year-old Milwaukee man Tuesday after a chase on Interstate 41 in Fond du Lac County.
Officers responded around 8:30 p.m. to a report that a man took cash from a register at the Fond du Lac Walmart and drove away, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said officers found the vehicle in the area and tried to stop it, but it continued south on Rolling Meadows Drive at high speeds. Fond du Lac police ended the chase, but the Wisconsin State Patrol and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office deputies found the vehicle again and tried to stop it on I-41 near Lost Arrow Road.
Officials said deputies used spike strips on the vehicle, and it continued south on I-41 for several miles before it broke down near I-41 and County Y.
The driver, a 60-year-old Milwaukee man, was arrested and faces felony eluding charges. Officials said police are still investigating the Walmart robbery. The chase spanned about six miles, and no one was injured.
