Arroyo Grande man arrested for stalking, firearm charges

Arroyo Grande Police arrested a 39-year-old resident on Tuesday on allegations of stalking and illegal possession of a firearm.

After receiving a report that Stephen Nathanial Lockett IV, a convicted felon, illegally possessed a firearm, investigators obtained a search warrant for Lockett and his residence.

Officers made contact with Lockett as he left his residence Tuesday morning through a high-risk traffic stop. During a search of Locket’s home, officers found a firearm.

After arresting Locket, officers booked him into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, drug related offenses and a felony warrant for stalking. He remains in jail with his bail set at $50,000.

It’s as if bad guys ignore the 22,000 gun laws designed to keep guns away from bad guys…


Bad guys don’t follow the law, that is why they are “bad” guys. Pretty soon the only people to have guns will be the bad guys.


So what you are saying is that laws should not be written unless they prevent the crimes/infractions. News flash…all laws will be broken! I think this particular law worked perfectly in this particular case. Felon in possession will do extra time for being a felon in possession. I’ll bet whoever was being stalked is sleeping a little more soundly.

Cars can be dangerous, so we have lots of laws to prescribe how, when & by whom they are used. Is it really that different?


Aren’t all those guns law to prevent dangerous people from obtaining guns in the first place, or in reality do they only make it more difficult for law abiding citizens?
