His memorial is still there over six weeks after his death. A testament to the impact of Jath Burns.

"He was one of the most important people in my life, ever," Said Mariah Raine.

"They played a big part in my life," said MzApple Baker.

Musicians Mariah and MzApple say the Uptown Lounge was like a second home, where Jath and Vina made you feel welcome.

"Nobody ever wants to go home when they come to uptown," said Vina Burns.

But the Uptown lounge is now looking for a new home following the homicide.

"Landlord says it's too much violence like this has been the second murder around Uptown within the past six months," she said.

Named the Weekly Most Wanted on TPD's Facebook page, 25-year-old Marquan Marshall is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Burns. Shots that Mariah heard from inside the lounge.

"There was seven. There was one quick one and then the rest was. The music stopped right after that first one and we were all kind of standing there and then 1,2,3,4,5,6," she said.

"We all was robbed. We were robbed of a brother, a father, an uncle," said Baker.

"We really do want justice, we want peace as well," said Burns.

A family in pain, with a message for the man charged with causing it.

"You’re going down, you’re going to get caught, and you’re going to do your time," said Baker.
