Talk about other female singers all you want. Rising R&B artist QueenLin has one thing to say: She Ain't Me.

That's the title of QueenLin's latest single, released late 2020 on all major platforms. A video for it came out at the end of January.

"Basically, I'm just trying to get myself out there," said the Montgomery resident. "And I do have other projects I'm working on as well."

QueenLin was born in Detroit, Michigan, but came to Montgomery with her mom. She's been singing since she was a little girl.

"I really didn't care too much for putting myself out there, because every time I'd try to take it serious I'd have something else pop up," QueenLin said. "Distractions kind of threw me off of it."

In 2017, she turned to social media and began posting videos of her singing on Facebook.

"People started sharing them," QueenLin said. "So I thought maybe I should put more out there and start taking it more serious."

QueenLin is out to capture R&B music lovers with her soulful take on it.

Getting serious meant getting a name to be serious about.

"Of course, I see myself as a queen," she said. The "Lin" part is a shortened version of her real name that everyone has trouble pronouncing anyway.

QueenLin's R&B style is flavored with soul. She said she loves the vibe of '90s style R&B, which she's bringing into her own music.

"Real good R&B music that people can relate to and say hey, you're not the only one going through it," QueenLin said. "My music can help others get through things."

QueenLin is a R&B singer who lives in Montgomery.

Outside of music, QueenLin has a full time state job. Prior to that, she also worked for the Montgomery Advertiser in the advertising department.

But the most challenging and rewarding job she's had is being a mom with four kids — three boys age 13, 11 and 2, and a 6-year-old girl.

So far, the kids are all still in their shells when it comes to doing music, and say they don't really want to sing.

On April 24, QueenLin will headline a live music showcase in Auburn.

"That's how I was too," QueenLin said. "I was shy, but I knew I could do it. I had to break out of that shell. That's most of the thing that held me back — the fear of everybody watching me."

That fear's long gone now.

In the world of live music, QueenLin's been getting local gigs at Montgomery's Aura Lounge.

On April 24, she'll be headlining a live music showcase at Uncle Charley'z in Auburn, also featuring singer Alandra Mornae, spoken word artist Nikisha, special guest Elle Jai, and host Melinda Newbolt.

QueenLin released "She Ain't Me" in late 2020.

"Stay tuned," QueenLin said. "There's people who have been out there supporting me. I just want to continue to push forward with my music and let everybody know that QueenLin does have more new music on the way. I will be doing more shows, and everything like that. This won't be the last that they hear of me."
