A motorcyclist who suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash Saturday in Lafayette died several hours after he was hospitalized.
The Boulder County Coroner’s Office identified the man who died as 52-year-old Shane Favors, of Aurora. Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis said authorities were contacted about the crash at 2:42 p.m. on U.S. 287 near Arapahoe Road.
Lewis said Favors was driving a 2009 Honda motorcycle and was traveling south on U.S. 287. In the median, a 2021 Dodge pickup that was serving as a construction flagging vehicle was stopped and facing south. Lewis said Favors traveled into the center median, colliding with the passenger side mirror of the truck, causing him to be ejected.
Favors, who CSP had initially said was 53, was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center, where Lewis said he died several hours later.
A 31-year-old man from Greeley and a 33-year-old passenger, a woman from Denver, were inside the truck. Lewis said neither was injured.
The crash remains under investigation. Lewis said anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dash cam footage can contact the Colorado State Patrol’s dispatch center at 303-239-4501. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office said an autopsy has been completed and the cause and manner of Favor’s death are pending further investigation.
