6-Acre Brush Fire In Milford Drew Six Local Departments
The fire broke out east of I-495 on Saturday afternoon, according to the fire department.
MILFORD, MA — Milford firefighters and six surrounding departments helped fight a six-acre brush fire over the weekend, according to the department.
The fire broke out just after noon on Saturday near Milford Stone near East Main Street, according to Chief Mark Nelson.
Firefighters from Hopkinton, Medway, Bellingham, Upton, Ashland and Hopedale all joined the fight and helped cover other areas of Milford. The fire took until around 5:30 p.m. to be put out, Nelson said.

Milford — and all of Worcester County, in fact — is under abnormally dry drought conditions, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. Nearby, most of Norfolk and Bristol counties are in a severe drought due to a lack of rain so far this spring. There is a potentially significant rainstorm headed to the area on Friday and Saturday, according to forecasts.
