SHERMAN OAKS, CA — Pasta | Bar is returning to the Valley this Friday after a long, coronavirus-induced hiatus. The restaurant, which provides a tasting menu experience offering a selection of tempting pastas, launched in the midst of the pandemic before quickly modifying their plan and subsequently shutting down.

Pasta | Bar will aim to provide an intimate connection between chef and diner, with patrons able to watch the kitchen staff put together their plate from start to finish. Dishes will be seasonal, with current offerings such as a lobster cavatelli and mushroom cannoli.

“When we opened [Pasta Bar] indoors [last summer], we sold out with a wait list, owner Phillip Frankland Lee told Eater. "The reason why we have a Scratch and Sushi Bar, it follows the ethos of what they are: [customers] sitting at the counter for seatings. We are small, but people would now rather go into a restaurant with six to eight people rather than one with 400 guests.”

Chef Nate Tauer, who was formerly chef de cuisine at San Francisco's Coi, will lead the kitchen as head chef.

The extravagant experience will begin at 16101 Ventura Boulevard, where the restaurant's maitre d' will great you with a tipple (alcoholic drink). Guests are asked to arrive 30 minutes before their reservation to enjoy the full experience ahead of the dinner.
