The Castle Knights Baseball team was too much to handle for Gibson Southern in Fort Branch on Monday as they took down the Titans 13-5.
Castle wasted no time jumping on Titan starting pitcher Noah Bryant as Caleb Niehaus ripped a two-run home run to put the Knights on top 2-0.
The Titans would jump in front in the bottom half of the inning as Colton Okes singled home Drew Foster to cut the lead to 2-1 and a two-run single by Landon Stoll pushed Gibson Southern in front 3-2.
With the score 3-3, the Titans jumped back in front in the bottom of the second as an error allowed Bryant to score, giving Gibson Southern a 4-3 edge.
That lead would not last for long, however, as Adam Watson lined a two-run double and Cade McKinney hit an RBI single to put the Knights back in front 7-4.
Castle would extend their lead in the top of the fourth with Mason Yancey on in relief of Bryant as Carter Hodd hit an RBI double and Jacob Barrett tripled home Hood to put the Knights on top 9-4 and chase Yancey from the game.
With Kaden Hurless on the mound, Connor Young scored on a wild pitch to push the lead to 10-4.
In the top of the fifth, Jon Lawson doubled home and later scored on a wild pitch while Kris Butler delivered an RBI single to push the lead to 13-4.
The Titans would get a run back in the bottom of the fifth as Jonathan Beauchamp was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Down eight, the Titans would be unable to muster a rally in the bottom of the seventh as they suffered a third straight loss.
The Titans will finish their five-game home stand versus Boonville Tuesday and then hit the road to take on Mt. Vernon on Thursday.
