Woman dies after Tontitown police chase

TONTITOWN POLICE CHIEF JENISON SAYS THE DRIVER WOULD HAVE NOT SURVIVED IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE TWO OFFICERS ON THE SCENE. <> "making entry into the car." WHEN MARTIS RAN THE TAGS ON A TOYOTA FOUR RUNNER, SHE NOTICED THE CAR WAS REPORTED STOLEN OUT OF FAYETTEVILLE RECENTLY. POLICE SAY THE DRIVER REFUSED TO STOP AND TOOK OFF ON BUSH CREEK. THE DRIVER DID NOT MAKE THIS SHARP TURN. James W Larson, Witness "I saw a large ball of fire at the end of my driveway then what looked like bottle rockets going off." JAMES LARSON SAYS WHEN HE HEARD THE CRASH HE HEADED DOWN HIS DRIVEWAY TO HELP Corey Jenison, Tontitown Police Chief "there was probably 10 or 15 neighbors and 4 or 5 fire trucks HE SAYS NEIGHBORS SHOWED UP WITH FIRE EXTINGUISHERS WHILE THE TWO OFFICERS TRANSITIONED FROM A POLICE PURSUIT TO RESCUE OPERATION. Woman dies after Tontitown police chase
A woman has died after a police chase that led to a fiery wreck in Tontitown, police Chief Corey Jenison told 40/29 News. The victim was identified as Chassadee Costales. She passed away early Tuesday morning.Jenison said the incident began when an officer attempted a traffic stop on Saturday night. When the officer ran the tags on a Toyota 4Runner, she noticed the car was reported stolen out of Fayetteville recently. Jenison said the driver refused to stop and took off on Bush Creek and failed to make a sharp turn. It then crashed into a tree. “I saw a large ball of fire at the end of my driveway then what looked like bottle rockets going off,” James W. Larson said. Jenison said the truck was returned to a home on Bush Creek – the homeowner told 4029 News the car was stolen from her son’s driveway in Fayetteville about a month ago. Officers pulled the woman from the vehicle. Jenison said one officer had minor injuries from crawling into the vehicle.
