Ankeny police investigating alleged gas station assault
The Ankeny Police Department confirmed Tuesday that it is investigating reports of an assault made on an Asian man at a gas station.According to a news release from Ankeny police, a now-deleted post made to Facebook indicated that multiple people assaulted the man at the gas station and he was hospitalized.The department said calls for service were not made to police or the Ankeny Fire Department in reference to the assault. On Monday, Ankeny police contacted the woman who made the Facebook post. Ankeny police said the individual took the post down at the request of the victim’s family. The woman said the victim is no longer hospitalized but did not provide police with additional information.“The Ankeny Police Department strives to provide safety and security to everyone in our community and would like to speak with the victim of this or any crime in our city so we can provide those services,” the department said in a statement.The Ankeny Police Department said anyone with firsthand information regarding the alleged results or who witnessed the assault is asked to contact police at 515-286-3333.
