Actor from Riviera Beach in No. 1 movie on Netflix
RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — An actor from Riviera Beach is is in the national spotlight.
Jevon White is in the new movie called "Thunder Force."
It stars Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer, and it's about a scientist who develops a formula that gives super powers to regular people.
"Thunder Force" is the number one movie on Netflix right now.
"It truly is a blessing," said White in an interview with Digital Content Producer Gary Detman. "I got a chance to rub elbows with award-winning actresses.
White is homegrown. He went to West Riviera Elementary, Dwyer High School and Palm Beach State College.
And his mom's brownies keep him coming home for more. As White sees it, he's never left.
"It feels great not that I journeyed from Riviera Beach to Hollywood because I'm still there in Riviera Beach," he said. "So to be where I am and who I am and still be able to flex and operate in another area it feels great."
White says he enjoys acting because you can do things that you'd never be able to do in real life.
"I get to be a dad, and I get to be a gangster," said White. "And then I get to go home at night and not have to worry about anyone doing anything to seek revenge. On a more serious note, he enjoys inspiring others.
White also says he'd love to write, produce and direct a movie from start to finish, and portray two different characters in the same film. He says Denzel Washington has been one of his industry role models for years.
