State fire officials are reporting that this year has already seen more than 126 wildfires and an "overwhelming majority" of them have been human-caused. Officials say that number of fires is well-above average at this time of year and they have collectively burned about 62-hundred-acres of land. For the last five-years the state saw an estimated 46 fires around this time of year with around 189-acres burned. Most of the human-caused fires have been started by Utahns shooting explosive targets, which is not allowed on public lands. They urge everyone to do whatever they can to avoid starting fires as conditions are dry statewide.
