Pregnant woman dies after crash in Birmingham; baby delivered by emergency C-section
Soon to be. Mother was killed in a horrible crash in Birmingham yesterday just shy of her 25th birthday. Her family is devastated. Just beat me up now I can't sleep knowing that she asked me for help. From the one time she needed help. I couldn't help. She always called me to fix things. I couldn't fix this no more. He could fix it. Just thinking about how she could have prevented this awful crash. It's what's troubling lisa Finley. She said she was on the phone with her daughter, Erica Patrice Callens. Moments before she crashed on interstate 59 north at Avenue. I when you got the news take us through that. How did you find out? Actually? I was on the phone with her when she crashed she called me and she said mom this truck won't stop, the truck won't stop, I can't stop. Help me mama help me. And then I heard a screen and then everything went dead. Callens was trying to get to her new pharmacy technician job at a CVS in Birmingham. She was alive when she left the scene, however, she passed away at UAB hospital in Birmingham. Callens was expected to have her son Dallas on May 25 thankfully doctors were able to save him. He's still in very critical condition. So I mean if anybody idea can help pray for women help me get through this week because he's a very critical days for him because I mean he's not at the woods. He got in a lot of trouble too. So, uh I've been checking up on him every hour every four hours. We got up this morning and went and checked on him and he's just like her, he fights this ever and uh he's a fighter. He's fight so he's improving. But like I said, they told me it's still too soon to call it, but I still got faith in God. So I feel like I lost one, but he left me another one, armory Callens is the brother of I'd Erica. He said she was his first best friend and they were always together. Yeah, I was her favorite little brother. So everything I did she supported. No, it hurt me yesterday when I got that phone call because I was always in Virginia and they wouldn't let me come home early enough to get here. Try to catch what she was conscious. So that really hit me up. But the best I can do is take care of her son for her because that's all she ever wanted. Every time she talked to me, make sure my son do this, make sure my son do that. I don't want him doing this. I want him just like you. Mark Callens was described as the life of the party and full of energy. She's a 2015 graduate of Pleasant Grove High school. Callens went on to study at Alabama State University in Montgomery here lately. Her life had centered around preparing for her son Dallas arrival. Everything she was doing for that little boy, you know, far as returning to shoot the shower. She was doing a lot and she was moving fast and uh, I don't know. I mean God was preparing her and she didn't know and we didn't either. But she put a lot of things in order before she left here. So when you think about when you go back and yeah, she just wanted to make people happy and she wanted to be loved. Like she loved them. She just wanted to be loved. She just wanted everybody to Love. Ceo Callens had planned to have a baby shower for her son, Dallas on May one. Her family said they are still going to have it. She would have been 25 years old. Next Saturday, I'm Fred Davenport.
