A meeting to make a motorcycle payment turned into a robbery when the seller allegedly stole the buyer's car and wrecked it, according to an Abilene police report.

Abilene police were notified at about 6:50 p.m. of a stolen vehicle. The victim reported that when he reached into his car to retrieve money, the seller punched him in the face, arm and back. The seller also threw the buyer to the ground and then drove away in the car, the report said.

As police were responding to the scene, they were notified that the stolen vehicle had been involved in a crash a few blocks away at North 10th Street and Danville Drive.

The suspect climbed out of the vehicle window and fled, but was caught by police, the report said.

Police reported that the 25-year-old suspect had an odor of alcohol coming from his breath and slurred speech. The suspect was taken to the hospital for evaluation and then to Taylor County Jail after receiving medical clearance.

The suspect was charged with robbery and driving while intoxicated.
