Man With Knife Lunges At Officers, Killed By DeKalb Police
A man wielding a knife lunged at DeKalb County police multiple times, which led officers to fire their guns at him, police said.
DEKALB COUNTY, GA β A knife-wielding man was killed by DeKalb County Police Department officers after he lunged at them multiple times during a standoff outside a vacant home.
Officers arrived at a vacant home on the 2500 block of Terrace Trail around 6 p.m. Monday after receiving reports of a man "aggressively wielding a knife" there, according to DeKalb police spokesperson Michaela Vincent.
Once officers approached the man, he lunged at them with the knife, "causing one of them to discharge their firearm," Vincent said in a statement Tuesday morning. Police said it was not clear of he was hit at the time as he fled into a vacant house.

"Attempts to make contact with him were made resulting in him lunging at the officers with the knife again, causing an officer to discharge his firearm," Vincent said in the statement.
The man ran back inside the empty house, and officers found him dead inside the home after an investigation. No officers were injured and the victim's name was not released.
