THE CITY OF JACKSON FORCED TO CLOSE A DANGEROUS BRIDGE. IT'S ON COLONIAL CIRCLE IN NORTHEAST JACKSON. THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR SAYS THEY DECIDED TO SHUT DOWN THE BRIDGE AFTER A RECENT INSPECTION. THE BRIDGE IS AT LEAST 30 YEARS OLD AND THE TIMBER PILINGS THAT HOLD IT UP ARE DETERIORATING. THREE YEARS AGO THE CITY MADE REPAIRS. THEY HOPED THAT WOULD EXTEND THE BRIDGE'S LIFE. BUT IT'S CONDITION ONLY GOT WORSE. THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR SAYS ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10 FOR DANGER THE BRIDGE IS RATED AN EIGHT. <IT WILL BE AN INCONVENIENCE BUT I THINK ALSO TOO IT WOULD BE AN INCONVENIENCE FOR EVERYONE IF THAT BRIDGE WAS TO COLLAPSE OR FAIL AND THEN SOMEBODY WAS ON IT. ONCE AGAIN WE'RE LOOKING OUT FOR THE BEST INTEREST OF THE PUBLIC.>> THE CITY POSTED BARRICADES AND SIGNS ALERTING DRIVERS THAT THE BRIDGE WAS CLOSED. THEY EITHER DIDN'T SEE THE SIGNS OR IGNORED THEM AND WERE FORCED
