An annual summer event in Duluth is back, but with a new name.

Taste of Duluth has been renamed "Festival by the Lake" because it was difficult to get local restaurants to participate in the event during the area's busy tourism and wedding season, organizers said in a news release Monday.

"People loved the event but we thought a more fitting name was in order,” co-producer Walt Aplin said. “An event named 'Taste of Duluth' should be a tasting event, so we will bring back Taste of Duluth back at some point, but at a better time of the year, just not in July.”

Festival by the Lake will be held July 24 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Bayfront Festival Park.

Organizers said the event will feature food, live music, product and service displays, shopping, demonstrations, arts and crafts, beer and other exhibits. Organizers suggest a $5 donation to attend. It's free for attendees under age 12 and over 60.
