The Henry Morrison Flagler Museum in Palm Beach will entice devotees of its traditional Gilded Age Tea Service with a new alfresco dining concept: PICNIC by the Café des Beaux-Arts. The initiative launched on Tuesday, April 6, and offers museum patrons refreshments to enjoy outside in the shade of the museum’s Cocoanut Grove.

Located in the West Room at Whitehall, PICNIC’s menu of light bites, sweet treats, and chilled beverages, featuring the same exclusive Harney & Sons blend black tea served by the Café des Beaux-Arts. Menu favorites include: lemonade; the Whitehall Turkey Sandwich with brie and cranberry sauce on a baguette; a cheese platter with its assortment of cured meat, fruit, honey, and artisan crackers; and a crudités tray of fresh vegetables with creamy dip. Lavender cookies, inspired by Victorian-era tea cakes, and decadent cupcakes round out the PICNIC menu.

Guests will tout their goodies in crisp white paperboard PICNIC boxes to carry outside to the Cocoanut Grove, where café tables and chairs await. The seating will be available to guests on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Guests can expect the same quality of fare from PICNIC that they’ve come to expect from our Café’s Gilded Age-style Tea Service,” said Cassandra Van Cott, café and retail manager at the Flagler Museum. “We’re so happy to offer our signature refreshments to those who visit us during the spring and summer months.”

PICNIC by the Café des Beaux-Arts will be open Tuesday to Thursday, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. PICNIC’s grab-and-go fare is offered for purchase à la carte. The iced tea, lemonade, cookies, and the savory crudités dip mix will be available for purchase in the Museum Store during all general admission hours.
