Notre Dame Academy middle school English teacher Lindsay Wilcox has fulfilled a dream of a lifetime. This week she'll be a contestant on the television game show "Jeopardy."

"I would say this has been one of my life's ambitions," she told The Courier Journal. "I have always loved trivia and knowledge and so I guess you could say I have been preparing for this my entire life."

Wilcox said she was disappointed she wasn't able to compete on "Jeopardy" while Alex Trebeck was still living. The longtime host of the show died in November 2020 after a long battle with cancer. He was 80 years old.

As the game show searches for a new host to replace Trebeck, a series of celebrity guest hosts are asking the questions.

"Other than the Super Bowl, this is an honor of a lifetime," Aaron Rodgers, quarterback for the Green Bay Packers said as he stepped into Trebeck's spot at the podium.

The Super Bowl champ is a lifelong fan who won "Celebrity Jeopardy" in 2015 beating astronaut Mark Kelly and businessman and Shark Tank star Kevin O'Leary. Rodgers has said he'd like to be considered to become the game show's permanent host.

Wilcox agrees he'd make a fine replacement. Rodgers will be guest hosting the night she's playing the game.

"I am not a big football fan but I am a big fan of handsome men," she said. "I was thrilled to meet him and be on a show he was hosting. For anyone wondering, Aaron does a very good job."

Of course, Wilcox can't give away the outcome of the Thursday episode — but she can reveal that her Notre Dame Academy students are excited to watch as their teacher shows off how cool it is to be smart.

Notre Dame Academy English teacher Lindsay Wilcox of Louisville competes on Jeopardy with guest host Aaron Rodgers. The episode airs on Thursday, April 15th.

"We have lots of opportunities for students to work on teams and be recognized for their accomplishments in sports but not as many opportunities if you excel in academics," said Wilcox. "So I am thrilled to be able to be an example for our students of how learning and knowledge can be rewarded with an appearance on national television and you might get to meet an NFL player, too."
