Disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein is set to appear virtually before an Erie County Court judge Monday.

The District Attorney's office says Weinstein is scheduled to appear virtually at an extradition proceeding at 2 p.m.

That proceeding was initially set for December, but the judge agreed to postpone due to the worsening pandemic.

Weinstein is currently an inmate at Wende Correctional Facility in Alden, serving a 23-year prison sentenced for rape and sexual assault.

But authorities in Los Angeles want Weinstein to be tried there on similar charges involving five women.

Because the 69-year-old Weinstein is an inmate in New York, the judge must sign off before he can be transferred.

Weinstein essentially triggered the "Me Too" movement after dozens of women came forward, accusing him of sexual assault.
