5 people shot, wounded over 2-hour span in NYC

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – At least five people were shot and wounded in the span of two hours across New York City on Saturday morning, police said.

There were four shootings in the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island between 2:20 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., police told the New York Post.

The first shooting was near Swinton and Sampson avenues in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx around 2:20 a.m. A 20-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his right knee and ankle and was hospitalized, according to the report.

A little over an hour later, around 3:45 a.m., a 25-year-old man was shot near Third Avenue and E. 138th Street in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. The man, who was shot in the back, as well as a 30-year-old man stabbed in the torso, were hospitalized in stable condition.

Then at 4:20 a.m. in Queens, two men were shot near Vernon Boulevard and 9th Street in Long Island City. A 32-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to his leg and finger, while a 31-year-old man had a gunshot wound to his torso. Both were hospitalized in stable condition.

Minutes later, around 4:30 a.m. on Staten Island, a 31-year-old woman was shot near Bay and Wave streets in Stapleton Heights, reportedly by a man who fled in a white vehicle. The woman was hospitalized and is expected to survive, according to the report.
