2 men shot and wounded near 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road

Two men were critically wounded after they were shot Friday near the intersection of 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road, said Phoenix police spokesperson Sgt. Mercedes Fortune.

Phoenix police and fire crews responded to the area at about 5:45 p.m. to find a 30-year-old man and a 32-year-old man in critical condition.

Both men were taken to a hospital, according to Fortune.

The suspect fled before police arrived. No further details were available, and the investigation is ongoing.
