BUFFALO (WBEN) - The Bills season has unfortunately come and gone, so now all eyes turn to the off-season, as General Manager Brandon Beane delivered his end-of-the-year press conference Wednesday morning.

One of the biggest takeaways from his appearance with the media is that this off-season will very much be about number crunching due to the economic toll caused by the pandemic.

"That change of thinking kind of started last year when we knew there was going to be no fans, and the league adjusted and said the cap floor would be $175 million," said Beane. "It's one of those things we wish we knew a year ago - maybe we wouldn't have made every move we did, maybe we wouldn't have been as aggressive in some areas.

"I think most teams were planning on the cap to be around $210-$215 million, from talking to some of my peers in the league and how we were viewing it," he continued. "So now you're talking about instead of going to $198-$210 million, now you're talking about it going back as far as $175 million, so definitely a change in plans...there's probably going to be some tough decisions."

One of the biggest questions surrounds the status of linebacker Matt Milano, who's set to become a free agent.

Interestingly, both Head Coach Sean McDermott and Beane talked about the need to be better running the football next year, as this year's run game lacked efficiency.
