MIAMI, FLORIDA: The Art Basel in Miami reportedly saw some very bizarre performance art over the weekend that also resulted in the removal of the two artists. It has been said that to protest against the “too controversial” comment they received over their planned show, ‘Milking the Artist’, artists OONA and Lori Baldwin went on to give a spontaneous performance.

As per reports, their astonishing show involved Baldwin milking OONA's breast in front of a gathering of approximately 300 people. Though the two protestors claimed the breasts were “as real as you want them to be,” they seemed to be prosthetic, TMZ reported. The artists not only did the live breast milking but also sold it, after they were done.

Reportedly, OONA and Baldwin sold the first batch of milk for 50 Ethereum, which values at $64,000, and the second glass of milk received 158 Ethereum, meaning $200,000. However, they were then forced to end the show since they were thrown out of the premises by the security.

A video of the incident has been shared by TMZ, showing OONA, wearing black outfit, and addressing the people. She reportedly asked them, “Do I need to be dead for this art to be valuable? Is this not art? Why does this make you so uncomfortable? Do I have to be naked? Is this not art? Does a breast need to be in a painting or a sculpture to be valuable?”

The two artists have also posted about their performance on their respective Instagram pages and shared their thoughts on their joint website. “At most art fairs, bare boobs only exist in paintings -  framed like dead objects. Here the breasts are audacious because they are attached to a living consenting body,” OONA wrote.

She also shared, “Nudity is the gateway drug to the deeper layers of this piece. Sure, the performance panders to the general obsession with objectifying women, but it only stops there if you want it to,” and Baldwin added, “The Art world's insidious underbelly determines which artists to milk and what their milk is worth. In “Milking the artist” we play with context and its relationship to value. We are raising the floor price of feminist performance art.”

OONA and Baldwin’s bold show has attracted a lot of attention online with one Instagram user saying, “This is what art basel is truly for, Realism and confrontation. Rest of the exhibit is a joke. OONAs milk has sold for Two Hundred Thousand Dollars 📣Wish i recorded myself getting kicked from show, its silly rule you can't wear art or BE art at the art show.” Another user wrote, “Young Intellect’s🤌🥰👁🖌.” “So proud of you!!! 👏🔥👏🔥,” the third user added. Others were less complimentary on other social media platforms, especially Twitter.

One person shared, “Dumb. What did they think was going to happen? Did they think they were going to get a standing ovation or a prize?” The second one tweeted, “Pair of idiots.” A tweet read, “#ArtBasel • This is not art; it's a garish spectacle. Should have been donated to a hungry or malnourished baby!”
