KSI reminded ex-EastEnders star Jake Wood that he was part of the maiden YouTube boxing event after he posted criticism online.

The YouTube star has become a prominent part of the influencer boxing world, and has created a series of high-profile events for them to fight on under promotional banner Misfits Boxing. KSI was present at the third instalment of his squared circle series in Texas last night, which was headlined by Deen The Great's win over Walid Sharks.

Influencer boxing has seen a remarkable rise since KSI first fought fellow British YouTuber Joe Weller in a white-collar boxing match four years ago. However boxing podcast host and actor Wood was not impressed with the latest card, writing on Twitter : "Have just cancelled my DAZN Boxing subscription. Not paying to watch YouTubers chase each other around a ring."

KSI then issued a disappointed response, writing: "You literally were involved with the start of YouTube boxing (KSI vs Joe Weller). This tweet was unnecessary and I’m sad to see this from you Jake." Wood then replied with respect to the YouTuber, adding: "I’ve got great respect for you JJ.

"But I’ve seen too many YouTubers of late making outrageous claims of their prowess in the ring that undermine what professional boxing and boxers stand for IMO. YouTube boxing works as it is but it shouldn’t be hyped as the real thing." KSI then reignited the debate, responding: "That’s like you saying you’re going cancel your Sky Sports subscription because they posted highlights of a sidemen charity football game.

"Or cancelling your subscription because a random YouTuber said they’re the best footballer in the world." Wood then ended the conversation, concluding: "Fair point JJ. But having said that Sky aren’t putting on amateur football matches masquerading as Premier League. I respect what you & DAZN are doing and the work you’re putting in, but I think the promotion and claims can be misleading. Interesting debate though, not saying I’m 100% right."

The former actor then was forced to respond after an image of him ringside at KSI's fight resurfaced, when he added: "Having organised the event it was literally my job to go into the dressing rooms to ensure everything was running smoothly and that the fighters were alright. My kids were there enjoying the moment."

KSI has been an integral part of the rise of YouTube boxing and is part of the biggest rivalry in the space against long-term foe Jake Paul. The 'Problem Child' has also come into heavy criticism for his role in the sport, given his ambition to fight for a boxing world title while fighting in professional outings.
