Maxwel Cornet ‘disappointed’ at West Ham after injury update – pundit

Alan Hutton has insisted Maxwel Cornet will be “disappointed” to be sidelined for West Ham with an injury.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa right-back said players like Pablo Fournals and Said Benrahma have the opportunity to “shine”.

Speaking to club media on Wednesday (5 October), David Moyes said he doesn’t know how long Cornet will be out for.

The 26-year-old did not travel for the European clash against Anderlecht on Thursday (6 October).

The winger picked up a calf injury in the 2-0 win over Wolves on Saturday (1 October).

Hutton insisted Moyes will not be struggling to find a replacement in his current squad.

West Ham are a team that have options behind the striker,” he told Football Insider.

The likes of [Pablo] Fournals, [Said] Benrahma who are all very good football players. When one comes out, there is an opportunity for someone else to go in and shine.

There is an opportunity there. There are a lot of games this season. Yes it is disappointing, and gutting for him, that he has picked up an injury, I think Cornet is a really talented player. But, there comes an opportunity for someone else.

The Ivory Coast international has made nine appearances for the Hammers across all competitions so far this season.

He has only started one Premier League game for David Moyes since his arrival from Burnley in the summer.

The winger made 28 appearances for Burnley last season.

In those outings he scored nine goals and provided two assists.

In other news, an expert can’t believe Gianluca Scamacca could now be dropped amid 100% West Ham claim.
