Last night, Alabama Crimson Tide brushed past numero uno Georgia 41-24 to get crowned as the SEC Champions. The star of the match was Alabama Crimson’s sophomore Quarterback Bryce Young. The QB against the Georgia set an SEC Championship game record with 461 yards of total offence, where he passed for a mind-boggling 286 of his 421 yards in the first half. Overall, Young scored 3 TD passes and rushed for another.

While Young was individually brilliant, he was also succinctly backed by the rest of the offence. Head Coach Nick Saban acknowledged this post match. “It still goes back to the offensive line did a very, very good job of allowing us to get the ball down the field and our receivers to be able to work in the passing game, which we knew was going to be something that was going to be really important in this game,” Saban said. “So it really started up front.”

“What these guys really wanted to gain was more respect” – Head Coach Nick Saban reveals the factor behind Crimson Tide’s motivation

Heading into the match, Alabama was labelled the underdogs thanks to Georgia’s number 1 ranking. Normally, when you are labelled as the underdog, it alleviates all the pressure off you and this is exactly what happened with Crimson Tide. The underdog tag helped them motivate themselves and topple Georgia in this David – Goliath clash.

“I think what these guys really wanted to gain was more respect,” Saban said. “Not just the fact that they were underdogs, because I think we had a tremendous amount of respect for Georgia, their team and what they accomplished. But you guys gave us a lot of really positive rat poison. The rat poison that you usually give us is usually fatal, but the rat poison that you put out there this week was yummy.”
