Former Warriors guard Quinn Cook will workout for the team’s front office while they weigh their options for the 15th spot on the roster.

According to a report by TheWarriorsTalk, the Golden State Warriors are planning a workout with guard Quinn Cook that will span multiple days. Cook, of course, had his two most successful professional seasons with the Warriors from 2017-2019. However, the five-year veteran has plenty more NBA experience with five other franchises.

Over his NBA career, Cook has averaged 6.4 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game across 188 games (29 starts) while shooting .461/.408/.795. However, Cook fell out of the rotation with the Los Angeles Lakers, appearing in just 16 games before he was waived in late February. After he was waived, the Duke alum signed a pair of 10-day contracts with the Cleveland Cavaliers but appeared in just seven games.

The Warriors still have one spot remaining on their roster up for competition. While Gary Payton Jr. is the early favorite after signing a non-guaranteed contract, Golden State has recently worked out several more proven options, including Darren Collison and Isaiah Thomas.

There are some concerns about the lack of centers on the Warriors roster, but the front office seems far more interested in solidifying their backcourt depth while they await Klay Thompson’s return. Cook would give head coach Steve Kerr another trustworthy shooter and competent primary ball handler on his bench but has struggled to contribute elsewhere on the court, particularly defensively. With that said, his familiarity with the organization and Kerr’s system could provide him an inside track for the team’s final roster spot.
