Evacuations ordered after Illinois chemical plant explodes

Local authorities are asking residents to evacuate after a chemical plant exploded in Illinois, Fox-affiliate WQRF reported

A fire began at the Chemtool Incorporated facility early Monday morning following the explosion. Fire officials began to order individuals who live in a one-mile radius from the Chemtool Incorporated facility to evacuate from the area. 

Chemtool Incorporated, which is located in Rockton, Ill., manufactures fluids, lubricants and grease products for other providers worldwide. 

A local middle school in the area has been set up as an immediate evacuation shelter as well. 

The Hill has reached out to Rockton Police Department, Rockton Fire Department and Chemtool Incorporated for more information.
