The Morning Show” will return for Season 2 on Sept. 17 on Apple TV Plus, and when it does, things are going to look very different at the fictional morning news program.

Last audiences left veteran anchor Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) and newcomer Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon), they decided to reveal to the nation live on-air that they were working in a toxic culture for a show and a network that covered up horrible actions, including those from former anchor Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell).

When the second season starts, they — and everyone else around them — will still be reeling from those explosive announcements. As previewed in a trailer Apple TV Plus released (which you can watch below), UBA (the network) cut the national news feed as an immediate response, but further action will be taken. This includes Alex leaving the show that made her a star, which irks Bradley, who thought they were going to be a team. Meanwhile, Mitch doesn’t want to be counted out and looks to keep himself in headlines by filming his side of the story.

The trailer also offers first looks at some of the new characters for the season, including Greta Lee as Stella Bak, a tech world wunderkind who joins the UBA executive team; Hasan Minhaj as Eric Nomani, a new member of the titular morning news team; and Julianna Margulies as Laura Peterson, a UBA news anchor who finds herself interviewing Alex.

The sophomore season of “The Morning Show” will consist of 10 episodes, releasing weekly on Fridays. In addition to Aniston, Witherspoon and Carell, the season stars returning cast members Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Bel Powley, Desean Terry, Janina Gavankar and Tom Irwin. They will be joined by new players Lee, Minhaj and Margulies, in addition to Ruairi O’Connor as Ty Fitzgerald, a smart and charismatic YouTube star; Holland Taylor as Cybil Richards, the savvy chairwoman of the UBA board; Tara Karsian as Gayle Berman, a news producer and Valeria Golino as Paola Lambruschini, a documentary filmmaker.

The first season of “The Morning Show” received mixed reviews at the start but gradually picked up steam as the episodes unfolded. On the awards front, it took home a SAG Award for drama actress for Jennifer Aniston and a supporting drama actor Critics Choice Award and Emmy for Crudup.

“The Morning Show” is executive produced by Aniston, Witherspoon, Kerry Ehrin, Michael Ellenberg, Kristin Hahn, Lauren Neustadter and Mimi Leder, who also directed several episodes.
