INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) reported 5,653 new Hoosiers with COVID-19 on Thursday. Since the pandemic began 22 months ago, 1,112,735 residents have been infected with the disease.
There were also 27 virus-related deaths recorded by ISDH, and now 17,060 Indiana citizens have died from the virus.
Bartholomew County totals 12,894 cases, Jackson County confirms 7,640, Jennings County reports 4,488, and Johnson County documents 27,559 cases of COVID-19.
Columbus/Bartholomew County COVID-19 Community Task Force officials say that virus hospitalizations locally have doubled in less than a week. As of Wednesday, there are 47 COVID patients at Columbus Regional Health. Six days earlier there were 23.
