Nearly 680 New COVID-19 Cases In Camden County This Week

CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — Camden County and New Jersey have seen an uptick in coronavirus cases. But what does that mean for the county?

As of Friday, there have been 59,181 coronavirus cases and 1,305 coronavirus-related deaths in Camden County since the pandemic began in March 2020.

This is an increase of 678 cases and nine deaths from last week, when there were 58,503 coronavirus cases and 1,296 coronavirus-related deaths in Camden County.

Officials continue to monitor the delta variant, which accounted for more than 99 percent of coronavirus cases in New Jersey over the last four-weeks, according to data provided by the state department of health.

Camden County has "moderate" COVID activity, according to New Jersey's latest weekly report. The determination is based on metrics such as case rate, positivity rate and prevalence of COVID-like illnesses.

“Unfortunately, we are continuing to see the Delta variant maintain its iron grip on our region, from cases to hospitalizations. More than 95 percent of our cases now are from the Delta strain,” Camden County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. said. “If you haven’t gotten vaccinated, please make an appointment now at www.CamdenCountyVaccine.com.”

As of Friday, 367,419 Camden County residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 311,723 are fully vaccinated and 27,294 have received a third dose. The Camden County Health Department is continuing to closely track new cases of COVID-19 and information regarding the prevalence of the Delta variant. New cases are often reassigned to other municipalities over the course of an investigation.
