Multiple U.S. Representatives took to Twitter Monday to share memories of the late military leader.

Congressional leaders are reacting to the death of Colin Powell. The 84-year-old military leader, and first Black U.S. secretary of state, died from complications from COVID-19. In a post on Twitter, Nebraska Rep. Don Bacon said "The leadership examples shown by the General during his lifetime of service, including as a great Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, will leave a lasting impact on America." Gov. Pete Ricketts ordered all U.S. and Nebraska flags to fly at half-staff until sunset Oct. 22 in honor of Powell. “Secretary Powell was a great American whose legacy will live on for generations,” said Gov. Ricketts. “As a soldier in the United States Army, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and Secretary of State he served our country with honor and distinction. Susanne and I are thinking of the Powell family, and keeping them in our prayers during this difficult time.”Read more reaction from Nebraska and Iowa leaders below.
