Maine COVID-19 hospitalizations on the rise again
Maine is seeing another spike in COVID-19 hospitalizations as the number of people in the hospital topped 200 for the first time in more than two weeks on Monday.According to the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 201 people were hospitalized on Monday, with 68 in the ICU and 31 on ventilators. There were 51 ICU beds available statewide.The last time Maine topped 200 people in a hospital with COVID-19 was on Oct. 5.Hospitalizations were declining from the peak of 235 on Sept. 25 before beginning to increase last week.In the past seven days, hospitalizations have increased from 165 to 201, while people in the ICU jumped from 53 to 68. The number of Mainers on ventilators has held steady at about 30.The Maine CDC will release updated case data from the weekend on Tuesday.
