Week four of the Garland ISD high school football season saw some high-scoring games as well as a forfeit by the Lakeview Centennial Patriots.

NGHS gets victory over LCHS because of forfeit

A forfeit by the Lakeview Centennial Patriots (3-2, 0-2) resulted in a 14-0 victory for the North Garland Raiders (4-1, 1-1) Thursday, Sept. 23. The game was canceled because of COVID-19 issues at LCHS.

SGHS defeated by Wylie HS

The South Garland Titans (0-5, 0-2) suffered a 63-0 loss to the Wylie Pirates (1-4, 1-1) Thursday, Sept. 23, at Wylie ISD Stadium. The Pirates’ defense held the Titans to less than 50Photos by Roger Mathis, mempics.com offensive yards and one first down.

GHS gets 56-29 win over NFHS

The Garland Owls (5-0, 2-0) defeated the Naaman Forest Rangers (1-1, 1-1) Friday, Sept. 24, at Williams Stadium. The Owls’ quarterback, Cergio Perez, ended the game at 37-49 (75.51%) for 428 yards and five touchdowns. Three of the touchdown catches were made by Jordan Hudson who collected 183 receiving yards in 12 receptions. Aaron King and Charles Allen each caught a Perez throw for a touchdown as well.

Jayshon Powers added to the point total with two rushing TDs and Keyunte King also ran for a score.

The defense also scored for the Owls when Chauncey Carter returned an interception for a TD.

Kingsley Bennett scored twice for the Rangers – first on a 64-yard pass reception from QB Tray Walton, then on a rushing play. Walton completed 11-21 for 175 yards on the game. Bennett carried the ball 19 times for 166 yards. Jaden Flores also scored a rushing TD

The Rangers blocked four GHS PATs and Roman Williams ran one of those back 88 yards for a score.

SHS gets victory over RHS

The Sachse Mustangs (3-2, 2-0) defeated the Rowlett Eagles (1-4, 1-1) by a score of 65-28 Friday, Sept. 24, at Homer B. Johnson Stadium. Mustangs’ quarterback Alex Orji was 12-20 with 251 yards and four scores. Cam Gladney caught two of the TD passes, Jamari Harts, Jhett Creel and Kaliq Lockett also scored on pass receptions. Orji also ran for 37 yards and two touchdowns. R.C. Reeves and Luke Keefer added rushing scores as well.

The SHS coaches sang the praises of the defense. Standout senior linebacker Keeland Lamar had three solo tackles, two assists and an interception which he returned for 18 yards. Sophomore Jalen Jimenez had six solo tackles. Senior. defensive end TK Burnley made four solo tackles, one tackle for loss and two sacks. The defense allowed only one TD per quarter.

Eagles’ QB, James Okolo, was 16-26 for 149 yards and two TDs on the game. The two touchdown throws were caught by Trey Long and Colton Yarbrough, who also scored a rushing TD. Joseph Brocks scored for the Eagles on a 76-yard kickoff return.
