The Cumberland County Fair is returning this weekend, after a year off during the pandemic.
It's the 149th fair in Maine's history, with this year's theme being 'compassion, charity and kindness.'
The fair kicked off with the Grand Parade, as well as the 33rd annual Pumpkin and Squash Weigh-Off.
The Fair also features the classic harness racing, horse and oxen pulling, fairground food and rides, as well as horticulture shows and exhibitions.
The fair organizers are thrilled to welcome everyone back after last year's event was canceled due to the pandemic. This year, masks and social distancing are encouraged.
On Thursday, fair organizers are offering the opportunity for attendees to get a COVID-19 vaccine at a mobile clinic. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., festival attendees will be able to get a single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
