LAS CRUCES - Playgrounds and outdoor spaces on all Las Cruces Public Schools campuses are now open to the public.

Access to these areas had been prohibited since March 2020, when schools went remote at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Following guidance at a recent meeting of the LCPS Board of Education, all playgrounds and outdoor areas are open until sunset and are available for team practices based on availability and space.

Space for team practices is made available when it is not needed by LCPS for instructional needs or educational programs, as outlined in district policy KF, Community Use of School Facilities. The policy also provides guidelines for protection against loss and damages. Permission for outdoor use is granted through the school principal using a Facilities Use Form, which should be completed at least 10 days before the first requested day of use.
