Texas House Republican tests positive for coronavirus in latest breakthrough case
House Rep. Brian Babin (R-Texas.) announced on Saturday that he has tested positive for COVID-19 in the latest breakthrough case among congressional lawmakers.
“On Friday, I started having mild, cold-like symptoms. After several negative tests for Covid, I tested positive this morning,” Babin wrote in a Facebook post.
“I’ve been fully vaccinated since late December of 2020, and I have already begun a therapeutic regimen under the advice and direction of my physicians. I’ve felt better, but I’ve also felt worse.”

“Thank you to my family, staff, and my physician friends at home and in Congress who are helping me get through this. God bless!,” Babin said.
Last week, Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) announced he also tested positive for COVID-19.
His office noted in a statement that he had tested negative for COVID-19 three times in the last ten days before receiving positive test result.
Babin’s case marks the 12th member of Congress to test positive in a breakthrough case of the infectious disease.
Other lawmakers include: Reps. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.), Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), Sharice Davids (D-Kan.), Troy Nehls (R-Texas), Mike Doyle (D-Pa.) and Darren Soto (D-Fla.), as well as Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Angus King (I-Maine) and John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.).
